Zhar sits on the quieter northern edge of Marrakech, away from the density of the medina. The building reads as a series of layered rammed earth volumes, each one offset to catch the morning light differently. Interiors are finished in tadelakt plaster and reclaimed cedar, with a permanent commission by Marrakech-based artist Salma Benali.
